I love this joint. The decent restaurant pickings in this area are slim, and fattening: The Noble Pig, Verts, Chicken Express, and Stonehouse.

Of these Stonehouse is superior in every way except for the fact that there is no roof. Still I have no problem with eating the Austin burger, rice, and fries on the picnic benches in the cold rain.

My dog loves to go there because she wanders round hoovering little meat pieces from between the rocks.

It's reasonably priced. $9 seems like a lot for a burger, but you get enough burger to serve 3. And while I'm eating I feel like I didn't spend enough for the quality.

Notably, the burgers aren't drowned in sauce. Each topping has a discrete flavor, and magically they combine for a taste miracle.

I am only allowed to eat there once every couple of months so I don't completely destroy my girlish figure, but I love it. It is always reliably good.

While I am not prone to hyperbole, the ATX burger was one of, if not THE, best burger I have ever had.  I considered a double meat, but that might well be illegal in some jurisdictions.  The burger was huge, and had a fantastic charcoal grilled taste.  The grilled jalapenos added just the right kick, far better than the typical pickled jalapenos found on most burgers.

I took my meal to go, but there were plenty of picnic tables on site if you are so inclined.  The menu is extensive, including pitas, numerous sandwiches, kabobs, etc.  The service was excellent as well.  In all, my only regret is that I did not find this place sooner, as it is 5 minutes from my house.  I will certainly make up for lost time.

Our record speaks for itself at Stonehouse...

Way Out West Austin-.As the newest addition to the booming food-truck scene out West, this place is smoking. Well, technically grilling, but with a real wood-fired grill that gives burgers, chicken, lamb and seafood that punch of flavor you get from nothing else. Above, the ATX burger: a near-half-pound of hand-formed beefy goodness, cooked to order and topped with bacon, grilled onions and jalapenos, avocado and monterey jack. The buns come fresh from the famous Brothers Bakery in Marble Falls, just one of the little touches that sets this place apart. The menu also lists sandwiches, kabobs and pitas. Three food trailers share this space, with plenty of picnic tables for diners. There are plans for live music, movie nights, open-mic night, even an ice-cream social on Sundays. We’re glad to see these mobile chefs sharing the love with West Austin; why should downtown have all the fun? http://wayoutwestaustin.com/stonehouse-wood-fire-grill/

365 Things To Do In Austin- This is the trailer to visit for some good American cooking off the grill. They have a little bit of everything, including skewered meats, veggies, burgers, and sandwiches.

The menu will make your mouth water and is extensive and diverse. One of the crowd favorites is the lamb pita. Holy cow is it incredible.  The lamb was cooked amazingly!  It was so fresh and flavorful, yet unique, making it the kind of pita that I am going to find myself craving.  Do yourself a favor and get the waffle fries.  You will thank me later.

Their hamburgers are also said to be out of this world, and if they are anything like the pita, they would be hard to be beat.Currently, Stonehouse Wood Fire Grill is BYOB.  Now that we are finally getting into fall, this would be a great place for a date. http://365thingsaustin.com/2012/09/04/stonehouse-wood-fire-grill/
